The Giving Tree is one of the most beautiful children’s books of all time – a tree who continues to give to a little boy throughout his life. It’s a charming book with a beautiful message, even more so when you consider the fact that author Shel Silverstein has more than a passing resemblance to Shaft.

Likewise, Treebeard from Lord of the Rings was also a caring tree – well, an Ent to be precise – and probably the only other tree-like figure with a personality to be immortalised in popular culture.

The Giving Treebeard then is a beautiful mash-up of these two classic tree figures, illustrated in the style of the original Giving Tree story.
