Some say they are understudies for the Beatles. Others say they drink coffee so strong it strikes back. All we know is they are called Royal Bros Art.

In our first designer interview ever, Tshirt Roundup this week caught up with Paul – one half of the design team that is Royal Bros Art.

Who are you and where are you from?

Royal Bros Art is an amazing name we gave to our company. We are two t-shirt designers from Cyprus, me (Paul) and my bro George. We have always loved art, but never really felt like we were good enough to sell it. We gave it a try and have been surprised by the response.

Paul and George. Are your parents fans of the Beatles? Do you have another two brothers called Ringo and John?

Hahaha nahhh George and Paul are the most common names in Cyprus.

Describe the design/collaboration process working with your brother

Usually I’m the brains of the team and my bro is the machine. I do the research for the design and George creates them in Photoshop / Illustrator.

Of course I design too but the social stuff – web promos, interviews, tumblr, tweets, blogs – are my responsibility. George is not into that at all. Actually he hates that type of stuff. You know that 70% of artists are quite anti-social. You may have an amazing and great talent but you need someone like me to push you out and let the world know about your art. I think we make a really good team this way.

What is your inspiration?

I won’t lie to you – we are video-game freaks. We’re mostly inspired by video games, movies and TV-series.

What would you be doing if you werenʼt designing?

That’s a really good question..Hmm.. Professional video-game player.

What inspired you to become designers?

A book called The End of Print by D. Carson.

Who are some of your favorite designers?

Like I said before, Carson was/still is one my biggest inspirations.

Who would you most like to see in one of your tees?

I guess… any character from Star Wars.

Serious Question: Coffee or Tea?

Coffee, especially Star Wars Ones

Chuck Norris vs. Darth Vader. Who would win?

Darth Vader… Light sabers rule !!!

How would you achieve world peace?

Good one! Honestly.. that made me laugh! World Peace? hahaha

No world peace? Well, youʼve got 24 hours before the world is annihilated. What do you do?

Listen to dub-step and go out with style.

Anything else youʼd like to share?

We are currently working on something BIG. You’ll just have to wait to find out what it is…
